Am I a bride?

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelations 21:2 (KJV)

How does a bride prepare for her wedding day? She dreams of the day far before it arrives. The dream grows and sharpens as time goes by and she learns more about the Groom who chose His bride with so much care. It's strange to think of myself as a bride in this scenario and yet, in my relationship with Christ, I am the bride and He is the Groom. He is the one who chose me and proposed to me. I accepted his proposal  and since then, I have been preparing for the wedding day. This is the honeymoon. A short "getting to know you" time before the real relationship starts.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV)

My Groom knows me completely, I know Him less well than I know myself, which is not well at all. With a pursuing heart, I grow closer to Him each day, but I long for the day when the separation of sin disappears completely.

I was married, now am not. If you are married, I pray that you longing for your spouse will echo your longing for God. A cool oasis, a tumbling waterfall and the missing piece of my heart.
